In groundbreaking news, the draw for this year's EuroWalt will be televised live on the Periscope app. This confirms months of rumor and speculation regarding the visibility of the draw for this major international tournament. Organizers have confirmed that James Nerdlinger Rump has agreed to host and oversee the draw. James is not only the fruit of the loins of WAGS and Wankers, but also a match-winner in helping to deliver the U8 Tennessee Invitational trophy to his manager John Adams (FC Derecho).
Here is the SkyItalia call of Rump's golden goal in the final from a few weeks ago.
The draw will take place Sunday, June 5, at 2 pm. A reminder will be sent out via Periscope.
Four pots with four teams each have been selected for the draw on Sunday. Placement in each pot was determined by each team's Waltiverse coefficient. Histories and accomplishments in all competitions were taken in to account to determine placement. For example, seeded teams are in Pot 1. These teams have either won or placed 2nd in the last two international tournaments - EuroWalt 2012 and 2014 World Cup Walt. Pots 2 and 3 are based on trophies won in Walt League Premier and the defunct Major League Walt as well as playoffs appearances, cup runs and all around consistency. Pot 4 is for rookies and prodigal managers that, for whatever reason, have taken a break from the Waltiverse.
The groups will be chosen from these pots. A member of each of the 4 pots will be placed in each group. No group will have two teams from the same pot.
Pot 1
Deportivo la Naranja Mound (Carey Talley) - EuroWalt champions (2012)
Real Chapala (Philip McDonnell) - World Cup Walt champions (2014)
Fox Meadows Athletic Club (Greg Gallina) - EuroWalt runners-up (2012)
WAGS and Wankers (Kenny Rump) - World Cup Walt runners-up (2014)
Pot 2
AC Frayser (Matt Basham)
Memfrica SC (John "the Boy" Neff)
Stevie G FC (Big Mike Neff)
FC Derecho (John Adams)
Pot 3
OzaukeeBrewMeisters (Ted Gallina)
Macho Nacho FC (Grant Caldwell)
Beerguts United (Kevin Gardino)
Gemmill 78 (Leon Moseley)
Pot 4
Magpies in Memphis (Ted Showalter)
Real Chapala U20 (Matteo McDonnell)
Team Ramrod (Brad Miller)
BIFA All-Stars FC (Guard-diddly-iddly-dog)
